Comiston Drive is made up of long Victorian stone-built terraces each with an extended scullery with maid’s room over, and the plan layout is typical of Edinburgh. We propose to modernise the internal layout of the ground floor of the house to provide a new family shower room, a large utility room and a new kitchen and garden room which will bring the garden into the house. The kitchen will also provide a new access stair into the new office created from the existing maid’s room. The whole is designed as a piece of furniture with highly controlled details. The alterations will bring light, function and new life into this period home, while still retaining its rich features and proportions.
